Stress & Anxiety
We all experience stress and anxiety in response
to life events. Everyone has had the "butterflies in your stomach"
feeling prior to a first date or a job interview. Most people have even
experienced anxiety which aroused them to action (i.e., motivated them to study
and prepare for an exam). Most of us are able to apply coping strategies which
enable us to manage perceived threats. When we successfully apply coping skills,
we limit the experience of anxiety. Anxiety of this type is positive anxiety.
But sometimes individuals are unable to cope. If you are one of these, keep

There are several disorders that are the direct
result of overwhelming amounts of anxiety and stress. Stress and anxiety become
overwhelming when individuals do not have necessary coping skills. Some common
